With over 21 years of experience in pediatric palliative care, Mrs. Sheeba Ameer founded “Solace” in 2007, driven by her personal struggle to find support for her daughter battling a life-threatening illness. What began as a vision to support 15 children has blossomed into a remarkable organization serving over 4,000 children afflicted with cancer, thalassemia, cerebral palsy, nephrotic syndrome, hemophilia, heart diseases, and other conditions. Today, Solace operates 10 centers across 9 districts in Kerala, with supporting groups in the USA, Qatar, Canada, and the UK. At just 54 years old, Ms. Uma Devi Preman has achieved the extraordinary, defying conventional boundaries and inspiring countless individuals. As a kidney donor and humanitarian, she has dedicated her life to serving others. In 1997, Uma founded Santhi Medical Information Centre in Thrissur, providing free hospital services and support to the underprivileged. What began as a one-woman venture with a single staff member has blossomed into a full-fledged charity institution with 85 staff and hundreds of volunteers. Santhi now operates 9 advanced dialysis units and 2 mobile units, offering around 2000 dialysis sessions every month, with 1200 of these provided free of cost. This remarkable initiative has brought life-changing care to thousands.
In 2017, Uma founded the APJ Abdul Kalam International Residential Tribal School in Attapadi, providing free education to tribal students in a unique and innovative manner. Uma’s tireless efforts have earned her over 150 prestigious awards, including :
